Gray hair
How do I blend gray instead of covering it?
The short answer
Switch from solid coverage to gray blending: soft lowlights and highlights that let your silver become part of the color, so regrowth is gentle and visits stretch to 8 to 12 weeks.

Solid color creates a hard line the moment the gray grows in. Gray blending works with your natural silver instead of against it.
How it works
I place fine lowlights and highlights in shades close to your own, then finish with a gloss. The gray becomes another tone in the mix. When it grows out, there is no stripe at the part, just a softer version of the same color.
Going fully silver
If you want to stop coloring altogether, blending is the gentlest way through it. A shorter cut speeds things up. One of my clients went from a long bob to a short, textured cut with soft fringe, and the silver finally looked intentional instead of like waiting for roots.
Keep silver bright
- Use a purple shampoo once or twice a week to keep yellow tones away.
- Protect from heat and sun, which turn gray brassy.
- Finish with a little oil: silver hair is often drier and loves shine.

What I recommend
Kérastase
Blond Absolu Bain Ultra-Violet
A purple shampoo that keeps silver and blonde bright instead of yellow. Use it once or twice a week, not every wash.
Kérastase
Elixir Ultime L'Huile Originale
My favorite finishing oil. Two drops on the ends after blow-drying for shine and softness, without making fine hair heavy.
