A European approach to hair

I believe the right cut does most of the work. When it is shaped for your texture and your life, your hair falls into place on its own, and styling takes minutes instead of an hour.

I have spent my career at the chair, in the studio, and backstage. Now I see one client at a time at James Matthew Salon in Irvine, with the time to listen and to teach you how to care for your hair at home.

About Ani

What clients say

I have been a client of Ani's for approximately twelve years. My hair is very curly and frizzy, and difficult to manage. Ani does a fantastic job blow-drying my hair into a sleek and beautiful style. She also styles my daughter's hair. Ani is a premier hair stylist and I would never let anyone else style or cut my hair.
Susan B., Southern California
I found Ani via a Google search for a master hair stylist in Irvine, and I am so glad I did. She knew exactly what hairstyle would suit my hair texture and gave me the precision cut I was looking for. Even though it's a bit of a commute for me, it is so worth it to keep going back.
Jen T., Orange County
If you want to feel beautiful and pampered at the same time, Ani is the best for you! She is a pro in every aspect of the word! Her color, highlights, and haircuts are the tops!

Thinning hair

What can I do to stop my hair from falling out?

First, find out why: see your doctor for a blood test if the shedding is new. Then be gentle with your hair, care for your scalp every day, and get a cut that makes the most of the hair you have.

Gray hair

How do I blend gray instead of covering it?

Switch from solid coverage to gray blending: soft lowlights and highlights that let your silver become part of the color, so regrowth is gentle and visits stretch to 8 to 12 weeks.

Cuts

How often should I get a haircut?

Short hair every 4 to 6 weeks, medium length every 6 to 8, and long hair every 8 to 12. Come sooner if the ends feel dry or the shape stops falling into place.
